This Week So Far

Asian stocks drifted Tuesday as risk appetite remained subdued and the earnings season continued. while the dollar and Treasuries were little changed.

S&P 500 Index closed at its highest since January as Berkshire Hathaway Inc. bolstered financial shares and higher oil prices boosted energy producers.

Gold rose 0.2 percent to $1,209.90 an ounce.

Oil prices have been in decline as the media continues to paint a negative picture on the future of the commodity.

House of Fraser's collapse looked imminent as rescue talks led by Sports Direct owner Mike Ashley ended.

Sterling sank against the dollar again last Monday morning after UK Government ministers talked up the prospects of a no deal Brexit.

Today`s 07/08/2018 ;

Reserve Bank of Australia ( RBA ) Rate Statement , It contains the outcome of their decision on interest rates and commentary about the economic conditions that influenced their decision.
Watch for clues for the outcome for the decision. a more hawkish talk is positive to the currency.


Reserve Bank of New Zealand ( NZD ), The RBNZ Governor decides where to set the rate after consulting senior bank staff and external advisers. Rate greater than Forecast is good for currency.


PPI ( US ), It's a leading indicator of consumer inflation. Indicate the Change in the price of finished goods and services sold by producers.
High then the forecast is positive for the currency.

CPI ( US ), Change in the price of goods and services purchased by consumers, accounting for a majority of overall inflation.
Actual greater than Forecast is good for currency.

Registration system for EU citizens in the UK

The British government launched last Saturday a system created to register the stay of EU citizens living in the United Kingdom, The process is free, and the application   is time at least until December 2020. To obtain the status of a settled status, you will need to prove that you have been in the United Kingdom for at least six months in each of these years in the last five years. Otherwise, the person submitting the application will receive a temporary pre-settled status, which can be changed after fulfilling the five-year requirement. If London agrees with Brussels regarding the conditions for leaving the Community, EU citizens will have until the end of June 2021 to register in the new system. In the case of hard Brexit, this time would be shortened until the end of December 2020. Poland Bitcoin Transaction Subject to a Flat 1% Economic Tax Levy.   Polish Finance Ministry has now brought into effect an all new law that requires every cryptocurrency transaction to be subject to a flat 1% economic tax levy. the government also requires cryptocurrency traders and holders to pay an additional income tax between 18% – 32% on their altcoin savings.   This has caused outrage within the national crypto-community and many traders helpless since the Polish tax season is now coming to a close, requiring all citizens to file their federal taxes by April 30.

Chinese tariffs and now Mexican tariffs — could take them two steps back

Mexican tariffs Estimates from the Tax Foundation, said that while the Trump administration’s 2017 tax cuts created about 380,000 full-time equivalent jobs, adding tariffs on Mexican products to the existing tariffs on Chinese goods could eliminate almost 610,000 full-time equivalent jobs from the U.S. workforce. By itself, a 5% tariff on Mexican goods could drain off approximately 39,000 full time equivalent jobs, the Tax Foundation said in an analysis on the heels of the Mexican tariff news. Trump announced plans escalating tariffs against Mexico if the country cannot stop illegal immigration. It’s the latest front in Trump’s trade disputes. FCA proposes ban on cryptocurrency products

The UK’s markets regulator has proposed a ban on financial instruments linked to digital cryptocurrencies, warning that such products could cause huge losses for retail consumers unlikely to understand their risks or value. The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) said products such as derivatives and exchange-traded notes (ETNs) that reference crypto-assets were “ill-suited” to small investors. It cited their “extreme volatility”, the difficulty in valuing them, consumers’ patchy understanding of what they were buying and the increased risk of financial crime. Investors might “suffer harm from sudden and unexpected losses if they invest in these products”, the FCA said, estimating that a ban would benefit consumers to the tune of between £75m and £234.3m a year.
