May submitted a Brexit delay application by June 30

British Prime Minister Theresa May confirmed on Wednesday in the House of Commons that she asked the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, to extend the process of leaving the EU by June 30. She pointed out that she was opposed to a longer Brexit delay.

The head of the European Council, Donald Tusk, announced on Wednesday in Brussels that it is possible to shorten the process of UK exit from the EU , but conditionally based on a positive result of voting on a divorce agreement in the House of Commons.

As he said at a meeting with journalists in the European Council building, the issue of extending the UK's exit process from the EU will be discussed by the EU leaders at the summit, which begins on Thursday. He stated that the period of such extension remains an open question.

In reaction to Prime Minister May's declaration, the pound weakened against the dollar. At 13:52, the GBP / USD rate fell by nearly 1%, falling to USD 1.3148 per pound.
